Peace on Earth

One of my Ravelry cohorts, who is a senior majoring in textiles is making a quilt for her senior project comprised of the flags of 198 countries around a center that says "Let There Be Peace on Earth." It will be raffled off at her show and the money donated to Doctors Without Borders. By the time I decided to volunteer to work on this, Iceland, France, and Canada were taken, as well as most of the Asian countries where fighting is occurring. In many cases, someone who is FROM the country is making the flag. Ultimately, I volunteered for and received Guatemala, a country where I have seen firsthand the terrible effects of war. The flag will be 8 x 14 inches and can be knit, crochet, sewn, tatted, cross-stitch, quilted or embroidered. Wow. I hope this young lady's project will get the attention it deserves and I can't wait to see the finished work. It will be big enough to cover a wall someplace (the United Nations maybe.)
Now-- I must plan my project !
Peace to you all, Noanie
