Today on Facebook I declared myself a fan of  Captain Sullenberger. This guy is clearly hero material -- having exactly 3.5  minutes to make the decisions which were life and death for 155  people.
 He is clearly very intelligent, very well trained  and experienced.
 He is also 57 years young -- middle aged-- gray  haired....
 I have come to realize that by middle age, values  are well defined, and experience and judgment become equally as important as  knowledge and intellect. A new college grad is  brimming with up to date information. However, with age comes the ability to  view the big picture, a store of knowledge gleaned from multiple trial and  error, a calm realization that we are only small pieces of the whole... courage  to do what must be done even if it has never been done before.
 "We will be in the Hudson." he said. And amazingly,  that's where they were.
