Shalom Sweater

Today I get to star on my own blog! My hair is a mess, but I am really pleased with the "Shalom" sweater I made with Sidar washable wool. It is a bulky knit with big stretchy stitches. I made it on a double thread which encourages it to keep it's shape. It will look nice with jeans and a tee and probably OK with dressy pants and a turtleneck as well. It worked up really fast so maybe one day I will make another one in a slightly lighter weight yarn to give it a more compact and dressy look.

For those who follow the blog regularly, I used my first two skeins of Caron's Eco Yarn which I talked about a few months ago. It is made with recycled pop bottle plastic. This is the "Helena" Sweater in size 2 or 3.

I used some orange flower buttons which add a little contrast. I often like buttons which are a different color than the sweater-- that way it doesn't look like you tried to match and failed-- and the detail is usually interesting. In the Shalom sweater (above), I wanted the attention focused on the interesting twisted rib stitch, so the matching red button sort of blends out of sight.

And we will finish with a pic of a plucky Gerbera Daisy. I did not know what color this was when I bought it, and never would have selected orange, but nature has a fun way of fooling with us-- and I have decided I love it. Hope you will too.

Happy June in blogland. Happy Father's Day to all the dads.
