Nicole Shrug- Springtime

Since many of you also follow my blog comments on Facebook, I am sometimes a bit pressed to keep" Noanie's Knits" original. Here is the finished shrug which I gave Nicole. It is knit all in one piece from the bottom up. The sleeves grow out of the front and back, and the fold over collar and buttonholes are also built in. It was a fun knit, sort of old fashioned looking due to the crinkled nature of the yarn. It is a thin strand of straw colored bamboo, twined with an ivory strand of cotton yarn. It is called "Cottonac" and is made by Ice Yarns. My second pix could be labeled "watching grass grow." It REALLY is a slow process. As you see I installed sprinklers when I landscaped last year. In hindsight, I wish I'd had the guy rake out a lot of the rock when he put down the seed. There are so many fairly big rocks in the soil that I wonder if a mower would need a new blade every single time. Tomorrow, I have the sprinklers turned off, so hopefully it will dry out enough to go rock picking. Tonite I sprayed dandelions and tomorrow Eric and I will plant some shrubs atop the rock wall, in front of the evergreens. We bought them last night in the rain-- at Baldwin Greenhouse which is my favorite plant place by far. . Eric has also convinced me to put in a small patio of pavers just North of the new sunroom. Then we can have a BBQ and a few chairs on warm summer nights.

And here is my new chief contractor. Eric installed a screen door on the sun room yesterday, complete with a lock and a doggie door. The girls used it reluctantly yesterday-- but with NO hesitation today. Now I can open the door and let in the sun and fresh air-- without letting in the bugs! I am impressed.
Now I am going to relax with my knitting and the NCIS marathon after spending the day with Andre. His vocabulay is really good and he says the most incredable things. I hope you are all having this much fun with your weekend.
Have a good week to  all my blogland friends.    Noanie
